What distinguishes our approach to yoga?

  • We believe in a practice that is adapted to individual needs.

  • We refrain from an excessive focus on a ‘handbook’ alignment that is based on straight lines, defined angles and rigidity. We encourage adaptive and spontaneous self-adjustments which can be aided by conscious breathing.

  • We believe that there is no one, ideal version of any posture. Rather, asanas are templates that encourage you to explore the potential of your body, connect to your breath and expand consciousness.

  • The balance of flexibility and strength is the cornerstone of hatha yoga. Therefore, we do not overly emphasize stretching that places flexibility as the main goal of yoga practice.

  • We think that yoga props can be of great help, as long as a student is not dependent them entirely and the props don’t overly complicate the practice. We believe everyone should aim at being able to use or forgo props, at any stage of their practice.

  • We incorporate elements of pranayama and meditation into each yoga class. We think that a yoga practice that is purely physical misses the holistic approach that distinguishes yoga from exercise.

WHAT STUDENTS SAY

Brittany Redhu

USA

I attended the RYT200 Foundation TTC in Hatha / Vinyasa Yoga - 200h at 5Elements: International School of Yoga and Movement.  I truly enjoyed the international approach to this course, with students from all over the world.

Szymon’s theory and comprehensive anatomy lessons were helpful to gain a stronger understanding of yoga asana and the importance of body alignment.  It was interesting to learn how yoga works with the systems and structures of our body and mind.

I feel grateful for Vinay’s asana lab where we learned in depth about each asana.  I loved learning the connection to breath, and proper body alignment while in an asana.  What I loved most about the lab sessions were the focus on how to teach variations for a range of student levels.

I am so happy that they brought guest teachers,  Shruti, Sushma, and Sudeepta to the course.  This allowed us to work with a variety of teachers.  Each with their own unique strengths, talents, and guidance to learn from.

By the end of the course and completing my own practice teaching, I felt a new sense of confidence and strength. I am looking forward to teaching and continuing my yoga education.

Doing an online Teachers Training Course was unheard of in my mind, until I decided to go ahead with
5 Elements - International School of Yoga and Movement. Having done a few workshops with Vinay, I
knew he was nothing short of brilliant, but I was still apprehensive about an online TTC. Having said that,
this was probably the best thing that I have done for myself in a long time!
I was simply amazed at how well the course designed, structured and executed. Form practical to
theory, asana lab to anatomy, yoga nidra to philosophy, every single day was a new learning with new
thoughts and ideologies which left us wanting more and more as the days went by. This was my second
TTC, but I have taken away so much from it. This has changed my approach and mindset towards myself
and my students making me a stronger practioner and teacher
Nothing will ever compare to a physical presence of a teacher in any course that you do, but this one
made me break a mind set of ‘the teacher has to present’. I was doing things in the online zoom class
that I used to struggle with, and not because of I lacked practice but because of clear guided
instructions, corrections of postures, and a better understanding of anatomy.
Thank you, Vinay, Szymon and all the teachers who were part of this journey. Thank you for being so
patient and pure with your practice and teaching. I will always be grateful and thankful that I did this
course.
Even if you are not looking at teaching, but are a serious yoga practioner, I would highly recommend
doing this course for a different approach to the same practice. And guess what there’s more!…I have
the recordings to go through and do my course all over again when I want to and also when I just want
to practice with these amazing teachers. So I guess its fair to say that I got to bake and eat the cake, with
the icing and cherry on the top!

I’d like to first congratulate you on creating this wonderful 200hr TTC course which is so meticulously designed and covers all the crucial aspects of learning yoga. Each asana was so precisely explained that it still rings in my ears every singe time I practice. I have a very high regard for your theory classes as well , since you have given special emphasis on the anatomy part, which is so crucial to learning yoga along with other crucial components.

I personally felt very connected even though it was online , there was a beautiful flow of energy which effortlessly took us through a journey of one month.

I’d highly recommend this TTC for anyone who’s a serious practitioner and is willing to give some good amount of focus on learning and delving deep into yoga.
