The spirit of the 5 Elements Yoga 300HR Teacher Training Course
Yoga is a mind-body discipline that was developed by philosophers concerned with the challenge of eliminating suffering from human life. As such, it is compatible with all religions and world-views and can be practised by people of all ages and fitness levels. In our school, we value personal approach. We apply an ancient Indian philosophy which says that both animate and inanimate worlds, including human mind, are formed by the interplay of the five basic elements (sans. pancha maha bhuta): earth, water, fire, air and space. Thus, the name of our school is 5 Elements. Each of us is different and has a different constitution of these five elements. Their imbalance can lead to physical or psychological disturbances or simply hampers our ability to realise our full potential in life. One of the aims of yoga practice is to balance our own elements. The yoga practice should be designed to balance your own elements. In this 300h TTC in 5 Elements Yoga: Yin, Somatics, Vinyasa, Pranayama, Mindfulness, you will learn the art and science of teaching each of the five methods separately and also as a part of a balanced yoga class. This knowledge is essential because an unbalanced yoga practice can disturb both mental and physiological homoeostasis in a person.
Below are the 5 methods of Yoga related to 5 Elements as taught in this couse
Sequencing of postures in a class
Designing the flow of a yoga class requires incredible creativity, but also a grounded knowledge of anatomy and physiology. In this module, you will review the anatomical principles that are relevant to sequencing classes in the Vinyasa style. You will design class plans that reflect those principles. This will enable you to teach classes that are varied, engaging and progressive, but also respective of your students’ bodies.
Integration of yoga styles
In this module, you will learn and practice the art and science of designing and teaching balanced classes that express all five elements. This is what we call the 5 Elements yoga. We will review the qualities of the five elements and how they relate to human health and personality, based on the Indian philosophy. Students will design and teach balanced classes that encompass the qualities of each of the five elements.
Applied yoga anatomy
This entire module is spent applying anatomy and physiology principles to yoga. Practical knowledge of applied anatomy is the cornerstone of modern teaching of Hatha yoga methods. As more and more people are attracted to asana practice that involves extreme ranges of motion, yoga teacher should be able to guide the students’ practice to maximise benefits and minimise potential harm. Further, we will practice scientifically proven stretching methods that can enhance flexibility gains.
This module includes practical studies of selected yogic scriptures (mainly Patanjali Yoga Sutras) as applied to the modern life of yoga teachers and students. There will also be open discussions with the Trainers (satsang) where the students can ask any pertinent questions from their own life and experience. The spirit of this module pertains to the main goals of yoga practice, that is the stilling of mind and eradication of suffering.
This 300h TTC is designed to hone your teaching skills, therefore a large part of the classes is led by students. This gives the rare opportunities to share experiences and receive feedback. Students will lead classes under the supervision of one of the Lead Trainers.
How to design and organise yoga workshops and courses, your signature high value yoga program
Yoga workshops and courses are an essential part of the yoga teacher profession. They will allow you to connect deeper to your students and to offer them more advanced techniques that cannot be safely taught and practised in a regular yoga class.
You will also begin to design your own signature yoga program or coaching offering that can enable you to focus on what you love to teach to people who need your teachings the most. Through that, you can focus your energy on what you love the most and maximize your impact in the community while charging premium prices for your premium offering.
These optional modules will be taught based on students’ interests:
